en produktions designer ansvarar för hur en film ser ut visuellt, som t.ex. dekor, rekvisita, kostym och miljö. det är även produktionsdesignern som övervakar och bestämmer vad scenografen och rekvisitören skall göra. en av mina bästa produktionsdesigner är stuart craig, han har skapat den värld vi ser i harry potter-filmerna.

a production designer is the person who is responsible for the over all look in the film. for example, he or she is responsible for the decor, props, costumes and the total visual environment. the production designer also supervises the scenographer and the property master. one of my favourite p.d. is stuart craig, among many other things he has created the world we see in the harry potter-movies.

while alone and insane encased in his tomb
vincent’s mother burst suddenly into the room
she said: “if you want to, you can go out and play
it’s sunny outside, and a beautiful day”

vincent tried to talk, but he just couldn’t speak
the years of isolation had made him quite weak
so he took out some paper and scrawled with a pen:
“i am possessed by this house, and can never leave it again”
his mother said: “you’re not possessed, and you’re not almost dead
these games that you play are all in your head
you’re not vincent price, you’re vincent malloy
you’re not tormented or insane, you’re just a young boy
you’re seven years old and you are my son
i want you to get outside and have some real fun.

”her anger now spent, she walked out through the hall
and while vincent backed slowly against the wall
the room started to swell, to shiver and creak
his horrid insanity had reached its peak

he saw abercrombie, his zombie slave
and heard his wife call from beyond the grave
she spoke from her coffin and made ghoulish demands
while, through cracking walls, reached skeleton hands

every horror in his life that had crept through his dreams
swept his mad laughter to terrified screams!
to escape the madness, he reached for the door
but fell limp and lifeless down on the floor

his voice was soft and very slow
as he quoted the raven from edgar allen poe:

det här är min värsta sak, när människor behandlar djur illa. ibland googlar jag animal abuse och animal cruelty och de fotografier som då kommer upp är fruktansvärda. jag önskar att människan kunde sluta se sig själv som överlägsen, för det är vi inte.

this is the worst thing i know, people who mistreat animals. sometimes i google animal abuse or animal cruelty and the result makes me so profoundly sad. it breaks my heart. i wish that the human could stop thinking of themselves as superior, we are not superior.

igår såg jag en fruktansvärd dokumentärthriller, nämligen the cove. den handlar om några aktivisters kamp för att stoppa delfinslakten i taiji, japan. många av den har kanske redan sett den, jag hoppas det.

yesterday i saw the cove, a tremendous documentary thriller. during the running time we will follow a few activists fight to put an end to the dolphin slaughter in taiji, japan. many of you have perhaps already seen this documentary, i hope so.










det här är richard o'barry. han var 1960-talet världens mest eftertraktade delfintränare och arbetade med tv-serien flipper. i tio år arbetade han med att bygga upp den industri som han de senaste 38 åren han kämpat för att rasera. en dag simmade kathy, en av delfinerna som spelade flipper i tv-serien, fram till richard o'barry och tittade honom i ögonen och bestämde sig för att dö. hon tog sitt sista andetag i hans armar. att andas är inte naturligt för delfiner på samma sätt det som det är för oss, de tänker på varje andetag de tar och kathy bestämde sig för att sluta andas. hon begick självmord i richards armar. hon var deprimerad.

this is richard o'barry. during the 1960´s he was the worlds most covet dolphin trainer and worked for the tv-show flipper that aired back then. he spent ten years building up the industry of dolphins in captivity that he the last 38 years have been fighting against. one day kathy, one of the dolphins who were playing flipper in the tv-series, swam into richards arms and decided to stop breathing. she commited suicide because she was so depressed.






här ser vi en liten delfin som försöker fly för sitt liv genom att hopps över näten. i bukten bredvid färgas samtidigt vattnet rött av blod. delfiner är intelligenta djur, kanske mer intelligenta än vad vi tror. de förstår vad som händer, de förstår att deras mammor och pappor och ungar inte kommer tillbaka och att de själva snart skall dö.

here you can se a little dolphin fleeing for its life, trying to jump over the net while a fisherman looks at it. in the bay next to this one their mothers and fathers and babies are slaughtered. they know that. they also know that they are soon to be dead. dolphins are intelligent, perhaps more intelligent than we believe. perhaps more intelligent than we think we are.






under perioden oktober till mars är det i taiji tillåtet att jaga delfiner. under perioden oktober till mars slaktas över 23 000 definer i taiji, vilket är ca en tiondel av japans årliga kvot. flasknosdelfiner, ofta unga honor, tillfångatas och skickas världen över för att tränas till att uppträda och underhålla oss. att de får magsår och att många dör av stress bl.a. på grund av höga ljudnivåer vill vi inte veta om. för vi vill bara krama, klappa och pussa på dem.

the annual dolphin hunt in japan starts october 1st and lasts until february the last. during this period over 23000 dolphins are slaughtered in taiji which equals a tenth of japans total quota. bottlenose dolphins, often young female, are captured, sold and shipped away across the world so that they can be trained to entertain us. a lot of research have been done and the results are clear. dolphins, and all other wild animals, are not feeling well in captivity. they are stressed and developes stomach ulcer. many of them dies because of the high sound level. what an horrible way to die. 






att vi vet så lite beror bl.a. på att det är förbjudet att fotografera och filma delfinslakten i taiji och därför är det inte många som är medvetna om vad som pågår. teamet bakom dokumentären kunde ta hjälp av många kunniga människor som bl.a. utvecklade kameror som såg ut som stenar och fågelbon som de under nattetid placerade runt den bukt där slakten äger rum och på så sätt kunde de visa vad som egentligen händer där 23000 delfiner och andra mindre valar mister sina liv varje år. men, de var inte först. här finns en fantastisk intervju att läsa om en tjej som faktiskt gjorde det här nästan på egen hand innan den här dokumentären kom till. läs den här.

we know very little about this because the strong prohibition to photograph and filming on the area in taiji where the slaughter takes place. the team behind this documentary could recieve help from a lot of proficient persons that helped to developed masque cameras that looked like rocks and birdnests. the cameras were placed in the bay during night time and they were near to get caught doing it but thanks to them, we now know what really happens when the water turns red by blood and were 23000 dolphins and other small whales lose their lives every year. i came across a great interview called the girl who broke the cove story. apparently she did all this almost by her self some years earlier. i read it here.






jag har svårt att bedöma detta som en dokumentär eller film eftersom det egentligen inte spelar någon roll. att det är tydligt när filmskaparna vill att vi skall gråta och att det stundvis är väldigt amerikanskt. det spelar egentligen ingen roll. det viktiga är att reagera på att det faktiskt händer sådant här överallt, varje dag, varje sekund. jag menar inte att alla skall riskera sina liv för en fotografi eller bli aktivister, det passar inte alla. men alla kan göra något, som att sprida det här vidare. ökar vi medvetenheten är det bra. med min relativt lilla blogg kanske jag når några som verkligen tar åt sig och kanske är det någon som faktiskt vill göra något. och då är det bra, inte perfekt, men bra. man måste börja någon stans. själv skall jag gå in på den här hemsidan och se vad jag kan göra.

i cant tell you what i thought about the documentary as a film because it doesnt matter. that the documentary some times is a bit too obviously american and told us thing like: cry now! because, it doesnt matter. what matters are that this is happening everywhere, every day, every second and we have to do something about it. im not saying that everybody should risk their lifes for a photograph or become activists, it is not for everybody. but everybody can do something, like spreading this. together we can increase the consciousness. i am going to take a careful look at this site and see what i can do. what will you do?






fiskarna själva påstår att detta är en 400 år gammal tradition, en tradition som det visar sig att inte många känner till. den japanska regeringen påstår det är delfinernas fel att fisken börjar ta slut i haven. att det i själva verket är människan som överskrider både sina behov och naturresurser ser dem som högst osannolikt. vad de inte heller vill kännas vid är att delfiner, precis som vi, är topprovdjur vilket betyder att vi tillhör samma del av näringskedjan. det betyder i sin tur att de föroreningar som vi släpper ut lagras i delfinerna som innehåller höga halter av bl.a. kvicksilver som vid höga doser ger en förgiftning med t.ex. missbildning som föjd. i taiji beslutade kommunen att delfin skulle vara en obligatorisk del av skolmaten.

the fishermen claims that the dolphin hunt is a 400 years old tradition, but when the team asked people in the larger citys in japan about this tradition not many had ever heard of it. the japanese government claimes that the dolphins are the reason of the diminishing fish population in our oceans, not that the human are over consuming both our need and our natural resources. the problem is that dolphins are top preditors just like us and that the high level of mercury that they contains because of that are dangerous for humans. the other problem is that they just dont believe it. the county of taiji decided that dolphin meat should be a mandatory part of the school lunch in taiji.






trots att dokumentären gav stor uppmärksam i media världen över fortsätter jakten på delfiner i taiji. tänk att det är år 2011, det finns så många saker som vi människor har gjort. vi har varit i rymden. vi har botat sjukdomar som vi trodde var obotliga. vi har på många sätt överträffat oss själva, på gott och ont. men vi kan inte stoppa delfinslakten i taiji. vad säger det om människan egentligen?

even if the documentary got a lot of medial attention over the world the dolphin slaughter in taiji continues. imagine that the year is 2011 and that there are so many things that humans have archieved over the years. we have been to the space. we have cured diseases that we thought was incurable. we have in many aspects outperformed ourselves, for better or for worse. but, we still cant put an end to the dolphin slaughter in taiji. what does that say about the human really?

i natt vaknade jag och hade jätteont i halsen, inte alls roligt och inte alls bra. jag tänkte att dumma väder igår när jag var ute med min hund, det är inte kul längre. på riktigt allvar, nu måste våren komma. så jag tänker mer på sådan här än någonsin.

tonight i woke up and felt this ache in my throat, not at all amusing and not at all a very good sign. i thought of the horrible weather yesterday and how cold and wet i became when i took my dog out for a walk, it is not fun anymore. seriously, the spring has to arrive pretty soon. so, i will spend the day thinking of things like this more than ever.

i cant stop thinking of the lonely whale who swims the incredible oceans all by her self. imagine that someone who is so large can feel so small. that it is only male whales (at least among the baleen whales) that sings doesnt really matter. i wanted to know more about the lonely whale and perhaps you would like to know more too.


"once upon a time, there was a whale called june. or maybe her name is margaret. or Kate. we don't really know. a few nitrogen-hearted scientists call her 52 Hertz just because she sings at a 51.75Hz frequency, but I will call her alice.

alice isn't like any other baleen whale. unlike all whales, alice doesn't have friends. she doesn't have a family. she doesn't belong to any tribe, pack or gang. she doesn't have a lover. she never had one.

in the immense solitude of the ocean, alice is completely alone.

the only thing alice does is sing. like other whales, she has been singing for a very long time. the first time we heard her song was in 1989, when the hydrophone network of the national oceanic and atmospheric administration recorded her voice for the first time. the researchers at the woods hole oceanographic institution have been tracking her using these hydrophones for the last two decades.

her songs—in this recording accelerated by a factor of five—come in groups of two to six calls, lasting for five to six seconds each. but her voice is unlike any other baleen whale. it is unique—while the rest of her kind communicate between 12 and 25Hz, Alice sings at 51.75Hz.

you see, my dear humans, that's precisely alice's problem. no other whales can hear her. every one of her desperate calls to communicate remains unanswered. each cry ignored. and with every lonely song, alice becomes sadder and more frustrated, her notes going deeper in despair as the years go by.

nobody knows why this is happening. nobody knows why alice is going through the wrong paths instead of following the usual baleen whale's migratory channels. some think that she might be a weird hybrid, one of a kind. maybe she—or he, as we don't really know the whale's sex—is the last member of her species. perhaps there was a mutation. Who knows. who cares—the explanation doesn't matter.

whatever the reason is, the sad fact is that there's no happy ending to this tale. alice keeps roaming the big blue, eating krill, seeing other creatures around her but unable to communicate with any of them. and one day, the noaa hydrophones will record alice's unique voice one last time. and again, that farewell cry will get no reply. but it will not matter this time because, at last, alice would be sad no more."

idag har jag sett världens bästa film, citizen kane. vår föreläsare påstod att det var många som ansåg att detta var världen bästa film, precis som att många anser att apocalypse now är detsamma. när någon säger så brukar jag känna att nej, det här kommer inte att bli bra. förväntaningarna blir skyhöga och dessutom har jag en förmåga att egentligen inte vilja tänka och tycka som många andra. men, citizen kane kan nog vara världens bästa film, i alla fall enligt mig. en film som är bättre estetiskt gjord än denna är nog svårt, om inte omöjligt, att finna.

today i saw the best movie in the world, citizen kane. our lecturer said that he, among many others, claimed this to be the best movie ever made. when somebody tells you that i always got a bad feeling. the expectations immediately increases and becomes skyhigh and besides, i have a tendency to not want to think as the general crowd. but, according to me, citizen kane could be the best movie ever made. this is a narrative and an aesthetical masterpiece.






vare sig man gillar auteur-teorin eller inte är det svårt att inte se att detta är en orson welles film, inte bara för att han producerar, regisserar och spelar charles foster kane, utan för att detta inte var som något annat som tidigare gjorts. nästan allt som ni tycker er känna igen i denna film från moderna filmer var nyskapande då denna film gjordes. och orson welles var bara 26 år då han skapade citizen kane 1941, det är ju helt galet!

either you like the autheur theory or not, this is an orson welles film. not because he produces, directs and plays charles foster kane but because this is something very innovative. almost everything you might recognize in this movie from modern films has its origin in citizen kane. and perhaps the most incredible of it all is that orson welles was only 26 when he made citizen kane in 1941, thats insane!






hur som helst, filmen handlar om tidningsmagnaten charles foster kane. i inledningen ser vi hur han ensam i sitt stora palats ligger på sin dödsbädd och yttrar sitt sista ord: rosebud. efter hans död får en journalist i uppgift att skapa en sändning om kanes liv med infallsvinkeln rosebud. vad betydde detta ord för kane? vi får genom tillbakablickar följa foster kanes liv och kanske få en förklaring till hans person och intressanta liv.

however, the movie is about the newspaper magnate charles foster kane. in the opening of the film we see how he alone in his great palace, lies for his death and speaks his last word: rosebud. after his dead a journalist got as an assignment to resource for an upcoming broadcast about kanes life with the approach angle rosebud. what did this word mean to kane? we will then follow foster kanes life through flashbacks and perhaps we will get an explanation to his persona and interesting life.






det här är en fruktansvärt bra scen. djupet och inramningen är genialiskt.

jag läste något oerhört sorgset som bästa sabino hade skrivit.

i read something sad that sabino wrote on his tumblr a few days ago.






i (sabino) just read a comment from a 2004 article by the ny times about the loneliest whale in the world. scientists have been tracking her since 1992 and they discovered the problem:

she isn’t like any other baleen whale. unlike all whales, she doesn’t have friends. she doesn’t have a family. she doesn’t belong to any tribe, pack or gang. she doesn’t have a lover. she never had one. her songs come in groups of two to six calls, lasting for five to six seconds each. but her voice is unlike any other baleen whale. it is unique—while the rest of her kind communicate between 12 and 25hz, she sings at 51.75hz. you see, that’s precisely the problem. no other whales can hear her. every one of her desperate calls to communicate remains unanswered. each cry ignored. and with every lonely song, she becomes sadder and more frustrated, her notes going deeper in despair as the years go by.

såhär fina var modellerna på rodartes visning för spring 2011. som skogsnymfer eller små rådjur. himla snyggt med guld hur som helst tycker jag. och håret är ju fantastiskt fint och verkar inte vara sådär jättesvårt att få till.

i really like the hair and make up at rodartes spring 2011 show. the models looks like dryads or roes. im very fond of gold i guess. and the hair looks so nice, i think i will try to make this hairstyle some day.
