"cap de cavalleria is the northernmost point on menorca, the end of a long and barren peninsula that extends about 4km north of the rest of the island. the scenery around the area is dramatic. it is not well visited as an attraction, but for those that do the area has a dramatic landscape and drive on offer. the area around here is remote and uninhabited, miles away from the sandy beaches and large hotels. this area is often thought of as a rather desolate area pounded in the winter by the island's famous tramontana wind. the tramontana wind is a classical name for a northern wind. far from desolate this northern area is rich in history and embellished by beautiful beaches such as playa de cavalleria. the walk from cap de cavalleria is not difficult although the going can be hard in places and the pathways can be a little uneven and rocky. good comfortable shoes, sun hat, sun cream, bathing costume, a picnic and a large bottle of water is all that's needed."

det var länge sedan jag blev så fascinerad och totalt uppslukad av en film som när jag såg valhalla rising av nicolas winding refn. den utspelar sig omkring år 1000 och på sätt och vis kretsar den kring mads mikkelsens karaktär one eye. one eye säger inte ett enda ord under hela filmen och besitter någon form av övernaturlig styrka (eller något annat).

it has been a while since i saw a movie that really fascinated me. that happened when i watched nicolas winding refns movie valhalla rising a few weeks ago. it takes place in 1000 bc and it somehow tells a story that circles around mad mikkelsens character one eye. he is a mute warrior who possesses a supernatural strenght (or something else).






inledningen är otroligt rå och brutal så ogillar du våld på film skall du definitivt inte se den här filmen.

the beginning is incredible raw and brutal so if you do not like violence in movies i highly recommend you to not see this movie.






på något sätt hamnar one eye och pojken are på en båt med vikingar som skall till det förlovade jerusalem. det går inte riktigt som de hade tänkt sig då de hamnar i en dimma och vet inte var de är.

somehow, one eye and the slave boy are ends up in a boat full of vikings heading for the promised jerusalem. well, it does not go as they had planned because they got caught in the fog and are dislocated for a while.






jag har väldigt svårt att sätta fingret på vad det är som är så fascinerande med den här filmen. den är långsam, den är tyst (eller ja, det är ju aldrig tyst på film, men det är mycket vind som blåser och så vidare), det är knappt någon dialog och det händer inte speciellt mycket. för min del trot jag att det beror på hur den är filmad. jag tror också att jag gillar filmer där den egentliga handlingen inte är tydlig, utan den utspelar sig till stor del inne i betraktarens huvud. jag gillar ljudbilden. filmen består av massor av små hintar och mytologi och därför skall jag inte berätta vad jag tycker vad den handlade om eftersom det knappast är intressant när, eller om, ni väljer att se den själva.

i cant put my finger on whats so fascinating with this movie. it is slow paced, it is silent (well, a movie is never silent, but it is a lot of sounds like the wind is blowing and such stuff), there is almost no dialogue and the story is basically a group of people wandering in a slow pace, not talking, making mistakes. but, i liked it. i liked the beautiful scenery and cinematography, i loved the sound picture and i actually like movies were the plot is not quite clear and plays out mostly in the head of the viewer. there are a lot of hints and mythology and i am not going to tell you what i think the movie was all about because it does not matter when, or if, you see it for yourself.

jag ramlade över den här fantastiska artikeln om hur broar växer, alltså inte byggs, i nongriat som är en by i meghalaya i indien. platsen är en av världens fuktigaste ställen och därför skulle en vanlig träbro ruttna. på grund av att träden lever blir dessa broar, som kan ta 10-15 år att leda och fläta, starkare med tiden. kanske är det bara jag som är helt inne i sagan om ringen just nu men påminner inte dessa väldigt mycket om lothlorien?

i fell over this awsome article a few days ago. it describes how bridges are grown, not built, in the little indian rain forest-village nongriat in india. the place is one of the wettest places in the world so an usual bridge made of wood would quickly rot. so because the trees are alive they grow stronger with time and it can take up to 10-15 years to guide the roots and vins across the river. perhaps it is just me (im reading lord fo the rings right now) but doesnt this reminds you a lot of lothlorien?

en sak som jag verkligen gillar är tv-serier, eller skall jag säga välgjorda tv-serier (hbo är ju grymma på detta). alltså inte amerikanska sitcoms eller en av mina tråkigaste serier nångonsin, two and a half men. är inte detta amerikansk buskis? jag förstår inte. hur som helst, ni vet säkert mycket mer än vad jag gör om tv-serier men jag vill ändå tipsa om två serier som jag ännu inte har sett men som jag gärna vill se.

i really do like tv-shows, or perhaps i should say well-made tv-shows (hbo is awsome). i do not like american sitcoms or my absolutely worst tv-show ever, two and a half men. isnt this american slapstick? i dont get it. however, i bet you know a lot more about tv than i do but i would like to say some words about two tv-shows that i have not yet been able to see but that i would like to watch.

if you have never been north of the arctic circle, it is easy to imagine that the “ice cap” at the top of the world is a uniform sheet of white. the reality, particularly during the spring and summer melt, is a mottled landscape of white, teal, slate gray, green, and navy.

the sea ice atop the arctic ocean can—as shown in this photograph from july 12, 2011—look more like swiss cheese or a bright coastal wetland. as ice melts, the liquid water collects in depressions on the surface and deepens them, forming melt ponds. these fresh water ponds are separated from the salty sea below and around it, until breaks in the ice merge the two.

researchers on the nasa-funded icescape mission—impacts of climate on ecosystems and chemistry of the arctic pacific environment—have been examining melt ponds, the ice around them, and the waters below for three weeks, with three more to go. carried by the u.s. coast guard cutter healy, a team of oceanographers, marine biologists, and glaciologists are investigating how changing conditions in the arctic affect the ocean’s chemical and biological makeup.

the science team collects water samples to examine water chemistry and to observe the colonies of plankton growing in the water and on the surfaces of the ice. other instruments are used to assess how much and how far sunlight is penetrating into—and warming—the arctic ocean. still others are measuring the current systems that move water from the depths to the surface, as well as horizontally across the beaufort and chukchi seas.

incidentally, the crew members in the photo are not harvesting data; they are collecting supplies. a c-130 airplane flew by earlier in the day, dropping a parachuted canister of hardware for fixing instruments and other machinery on the icebreaker.

little white lies, som tydligen skall vara världen bästa filmtidning (måste undersöka detta), valde att sätta filmen drive som omslag på sitt 37:e nummer och kalla den the drive issue. det måste ju betyda något. dessutom är väl ryan gosling 2011 vad james franco var 2010.

little white lies, supposed to be the best movie magazine in the world ( i have to investigate this closer), chosed to call their 37th issue the drive issue and put ryan gosling on the cover. it has to mean something, huh? and besides, ryan gosling seems to be now what james franco was 2010.






trolljegeren är en norsk film i stil med the blair witch project som handlar om trolljägare. det låter knäppt och sjukt intressant i mina öron. dessutom tycker jag att trollen ser oväntat välgjorda ut för att vara en skandinavisk film. spännande och måste ses! hoppas bara att de mixat ljudet bra för jag kan inte se t.ex. svenska filmer längre på grund av de otroligt överdrivna trampljudet. är det någon mer än jag som tänkt på detta? se en kort sekvens av vilken beck-film som helst så kommer ni fatta vad jag snackar om.

the trollhunter is a norwegian movie in the same style as the movie the blair witch project but about trolls and trollhunters. it sounds crazy and super interesting in my ears. furthermore, i think the trolls looks very well done for being a scandinavian film. exciting! i just hope that the sound is mixed in a more natural way than for example swedish movies is used to be because i cant stand the incredible loud foley sound effects.






alltså, jag är ju väldigt svag för joaquin phoenix och måste se den här mockumentaryn. ni missade väl inte hans konstiga framträdande hos letterman 2009?

the perks of being a wallflower har inte premiär förrän 2012 men man kan väl längta för det. emma watson, nina dobrev och kate walsh är med.

jag tycker väldigt mycket om böcker, det har jag alltid gjort. när jag var sju år läste jag narnia-böckerna, året då jag skulle fylla nio år läste jag min första harry potter-bok och två år senare läste jag sagan om ringen-trilogin i ett sträck. sedan dess har jag läst många fler böcker men just dessa bokserier ligger mig varmt om hjärtat. jag hittade nyligen mina gamla sagan om ringen-böcker igen, jag trodde att de var borta för alltid och blev så glad att jag började läsa den första boken i serien omedelbart. tänk att de är så bra som de faktiskt är! jag kommer på mig själv med att sitta och önska att jag själv kunde vara med i sällskapet och se den förunderliga värld och dess orörda wilderness! det låter säkert väldigt konstigt men så är det, oavsett vad experter säger så tycker jag att tjusningen med böcker är att leva sig in i berättelsen. det är så en bra bok skall kännas tycker jag!

i'm very fond of books and i have always been. when i was seven years old i read the narnia-books for the first time, the year i was going to turn nine i read my first harry potter-book and two years later i read the lord of the rings-trilogy. i have read a lot of books after that but i have to admit that these books will always have a special place in my heart. i recently found my old the lord of the rings-books and i had i start reading them imediately! they are so well written! i find myself wishing i could be on the quest together with frodo, aragorn and gandalf and watch the wondrous world and its untouched wilderness! i bet you find it extremely weird but that is just how i feel. regardless what the experts think about reading i believe my fascination builds on my way to empathize with the action. i believe that a good book makes you feel something, good or bad does not matter as long as you feel something.
