för ett tag sedan berättade jag att jag och erica hade varit på bio och sett filmen j. edgar. och den var så galet bra!

a while ago i told you that i and erica had seen the movie j. edgar. and it is an amazing movie!






filmen handlar om j. edgar hoover, som var chef för fbi i hela 48 år. en mytsomspunnen man, en brutal och osympatisk man enligt vissa. eftersom hoover vigde nästan hela sitt liv åt sitt arbete handlar det såklart mycket om det men jag måste säga att det bästa med filmen var hur relationen mellan hoover och hans närmsta man clyde tolson porträtterades.

the movie is about j. edgar hoover, who was head of the fbi for 48 years. he was a mythical man, a brutal and unpleasant according to some. because of the fact that he devoted his life to his work, the movie deals with that a lot of the screentime, but i have to say that the movie is at its best when it portraits the relationship between hoover and his closest man clyde tolson.






clint eastwood har regisserat och han är en av mina all time favourites. dessutom tycker jag alltid att hans filmer är väldigt fint ljussatta, tänk tillexempel på ljuset i filmen million dollar baby. sedan har dustin lance black skrivit manus, ni vet han som även skrev manus till den utomordentliga filmen milk.

clint eastwood is the director and he is one of my all time favourites. besides, the lightning in his movies are always amazing, this movie is not an exception. (watch the lightning in the movie million dollar baby for example). and dustin lance black has written the script, you know he who wrote the script for the movie milk.






filmen hoppar mellan nutid och dåtid, en effekt som jag gillar väldigt mycket.

the movie cuts between the past and the present, i like that because it makes a nice continuity.






en av de mest fascinerande sakerna var sminket.

one of the most fascinating things were the make-up.







en av de sämre sakerna med filmen var möjligtvis att edgar hoovers mörkare sidor inte porträtterades så kraftfullt som man kanske hade trott eller förväntat sig. å andra sidan försöker man ge en förklaring till hans person. kanske var de rädda för att själva ge sin syn och uppfattning om denna man, att de valde en väg där de inte behövde göra det och därför blir det lite neutralt.

one of the thinks that surprised me a little, was that they didn't really capture the darker sides of him. i guess they focused on telling why he was the man he was. perhaps they didn't want to make a statement, which made it all a little neutral instead.

this scene is probably my favourite scene in the entire movie.







edgar hoover var bland annat känd för sina hemliga filer, föreställ er att veta om alla högt uppsatta personers mörkaste hemligheter och använda dem i utpressningssyfte. på så sätt kunde j. edgar hoover överleva inte mindre än åtta presidenter på sin post. alla var rädda för honom.

edgar j. hoover was, among many other things, known for his secret files archive. he knew everything about everybody and he used them for blackmailing. it meant, that he could survive not less than eight presidents on his post as the head of fbi.







den här scenen är också väldigt bra.

this scene is also very good.






vilken typ av person hoover egentligen var får man själv avgöra. en person som sökte bekräftelse genom sitt arbete och som gärna överdrev sina bedrifter, en person som hela sitt liv var förtryckt och som tjänade sitt land. en person som var grym och maktgalen, brutal, manipulativ och känslokall.

what kind of a man he really was, it up to you to decide. a person who sought recognition and affection, a man who exaggerated his achievement, a person who lived his life oppressed and in denial, a man who served his country. a man who was cruel and blinded by the power, brutal, manipulative and cold-hearted.

igår var en himla bra dag, för jag fick hänga med världens bästa erica hela dagen. vi bakade indiska kanelbullar och tittade på j.edgar på bio, som för övrigt nog är min nya favoritfilm. jag älskar verkligen när filmer motsvarar högt ställda förväntningar, men mer om det lite senare, för nu handlar det om erica. jag är verkligen jätteglad att jag har lärt känna erica och att hon är min vän, för hon är så himla bra. hon är snäll, rolig, smart och är väldigt bra på en massa olika saker. hon har alltid en miljon bra idéer och är alldeles galen i mode och har världens finaste kläder, skor och väskor. och så gillar vi bröd ungefär lika mycket och kan äta hur många bullar som helst. (och ja, för er som undrar, den här veckan är det 75 % rawfood som gäller). dessutom har hon en superfin blogg såklart som heter bambielux. vill ni bli inspirerade tycker jag verkligen att ni skall klicka er in på hennes blogg här.

yesterday was a very good day, because i've got to hang out with my best friend erica all day long. we made indian cinnamon buns with saffron and went to see j. edgar at the cinema, which is my new favourite movie. but more about the movie later, this is about erica. i am so lucky that i've got to know her and that she is my friend, because she is such a good one. she is kind, funny, smart and great at a lot of different things. she always have about a million great ideas and is a huge fashion nerd. she has the nicest clothes, shoes and bags and we both like bread and can eat a lot of buns and then eat some more. (and for you who wonder, this week i eat 75 % raw). besides, she has a great blog called bambielux. if you want to get inspired, i suggest that you visit her blog here.

jag ser så väldigt mycket fram emot filmen j. edgar. som handlar om j. edgar hoover som var chef för fbi i 48 (!) år. en fascinerande person minst sagt. dessutom är det clint eastwood som regisserar och leonardo dicaprio som gör huvudrollen. jag tror att den kan vara väldigt, väldigt bra faktiskt.

i'm so looking forward to watch the movie j. edgar about the legendary face of law enforcement in the usa, j. edgar hoover. besides, clint eastwood is directing and leonardo dicaprio is playing the lead role. i think it is a great movie.

terrence malicks the tree of life är enligt mig en av förra årets allra bästa filmer. majoriteten av filmen utspelar sig i texas under 1950-talet och handlar om en familj med tre unga pojkar, deras kärleksfulla mamma och stränga pappa. handlingen centreras kring den äldsta sonen jack och hans ansträngda relation med sin pappa.

terrence malicks the tree of life is one of the best movies from last year. the majority of the screentime takes place in texas during the 1950's. it centers around a family of three boys and their loving mother and uncompromising father. we are told the story about the oldest son jack and his complicated relationship with his father.






filmen handlar också om hur jack växer upp och förlorar barndomens oskuldsfullhet. den handlar också om död och dem som blir kvar.

the movie is also about how jack grows up and the loss of innocence and death.






så bra är den, och smart. så den är kanske inget för dig som vill sitta i soffan och inte tänka. detta är alltså ingen blockbuster!

i like it so much, and it is so smart. so, i would not recommend this movie to you who just wants to sit and relax in the sofa for a couple of hours. it is not a blockbuster!






sean penn spelar jack som vuxen. han försöker försona sig med relationen till sin pappa och funderar väldigt mycket över meningen med livet, ursprunget och tro.

sean penn portraites jack as a grown up. he tries to reconcile to the complicated relationship to his father and ponder about the mening of life, the origin and a thing called faith.






jessica chastain är väldigt bra som den troende och kärleksfulla mamman.

jessica chastain is great as the religious and loving mother.






och brad pitt är väldigt bra som pappan i familjen.

and brad pitt is great as the father.






filmen handlar om hur vi behöver kärlek, respekt och uppskattning.

the movie is also about the human need for love, respect and appreciation.






jag tycker att filmen är väldigt vacker, konstnärlig, poetisk, svepande och djup. terrence malick, som har regisserat filmen har studerat filosofi på harvard, studerat på oxford och varit professor på mit. det märks att han har lagt mycket tanke bakom den här filmen.

i find this movie very beautiful, poetic, sweeping, artistic and deep. terrence malick, who directed the tree of life, has graduated from harvard with a philosophy degree, studied at oxford and worked as a professor at mit. he is smart and you notice that he has put a lot of effort and thought behind this movie.

för ett tag sedan såg jag lars von triers melancholia och jag måste säga att det var en av de snyggaste filmerna som jag har sett på länge.

a while ago i saw lars von triers melancholia and i have to say i think it was one of the best visual looking movies i have seen in a while.






filmen handlar om två systrar, som spelas av kirsten dunst och charlotte gainsbourg, och deras ansträngda relation till varandra och hur den påverkas av att en okänd planet (melancholia) som hotar att kollidera med jorden.

the movie is about two sisters, the characters are portraited by kirsten dunst and charlotte gainsbourg, and their strained relationship. their already strained relationship is challenged by melancholia, a mysterious planet that threatens to collide with the earth.






filmen börjar med ett extravagant bröllop där justine (dunst) och michael (skarsgård) gifter sig. vi förstår redan här att detta inte kommer sluta lyckligt då justine, trots att det borde vara en av de bästa dagarna i hennes liv, kämpar för att vara lycklig.

the movie beginns with an extravagant wedding. justine (dunst) and michel (skarsgård) is getting married but we already understand that something is wrong because justine is struggling to be happy, even though it is supposed to be one of the happiest days of her life.







påminner lite om last year at marienbad, tycker ni inte? (minus skuggorna förstås).

kiefer sutherland spelar john, claires (gainbourg) man och pappa till deras son leo.

claire är väldigt rädd och orolig att melancholia skall kollidera med jorden. justine verkar ha gett upp eller accepterar sitt öde. john är också orolig men döljer det med att hela tiden berätta hur fantastiskt det kommer bli att se melancholia segla förbi jorden och att de båda planeterna inte alls kommer att krocka.

claire is very scared and worried about melancholia, justine seems to have given up or just accepts her destiny and john is also worried but hides it well and assures everybody that this is an unique oppurtunity to see something rare and beautiful.






jag upplevde det som en väldigt bra film. bra skådespeleri, bra regi, bra manus, bra cinematografi, bra ljuddesign...men främst gillade jag miljöerna och de visuella effekterna. otroligt snyggt!

i think this is a great movie. the acting is great, great directing, great script, great sound design, great photography...but most of all i liked the environment and the visual effects. incredibly well done!

för någon vecka sedan såg jag filmen blue valentine. filmen handlar om ett modernt par som spelas av ryan gosling och michelle williams. genom cross-cutting får vi följa dem under flera års tid.

about a week ago i saw the movie blue valentine. the movie deals with a contemporary couple, michelle williams character cindy and ryan goslings character dean. we follow them over a span of years by cross-cutting between time periods.






det är en film som är väldigt fin på sina ställen men mest av allt tyckte jag att den var otroligt deprimerande.

i think this movie has a few beautiful moments but most of all i think it is depressing.






ryan gosling är bra. michelle williams är bra. skådespeleriet är faktiskt väldigt bra.

men... berättelsen är otroligt deprimerande. cindy och dean träffas när de är unga och på grund av olika omständigheter bestämmer de sig för att gifta sig och bli en familj. cindy studerar och vill bli läkare, hon har drömmar. dean är väldigt sympatisk och bryr sig verkligen om andra människor.

but, the story is incredibly depressing. cindy and dean meets when they are young and due to different circumstances they decide to get married and become a family. at this time, cindy is studying and wants to become a doctor and dean is a very endearing man who really cares about other people.






deras framtid tillsammans blev inte riktigt som de hade föreställt sig. cindy arbetar som sjuksköterska och dean har slutat bry sig om någon annan än sig själv och sin dotter.

their future together is not quite what they once dreamed about. cindy is working as a nurse and dean has stopped to care about anyone else than himself and his daughter.






en bra film trots alls, även om det inte är min vanliga genre.

blue valentine is a good movie and i liked it even though it is not my usual genre.

under januari månad äter jag och min syster enbart vegansk raw food. de första två dagarna var ungefär de jobbigaste dagarna någonsin, sedan har det blivit lite enklare. jag gillar verkligen raw food, men inte varje dag, tre gånger om dagen. så därför sitter jag och längtar till februari då jag kan återgå till min vanliga vegankost och letar efter goda recept på mat som jag skall äta då. (jag längtar efter rostade bröd och stuvade makaroner så att jag tror att jag går av och på natten drömmer jag om chips). så, här är några av de recept som jag har hittat. klicka bara på texten så kommer ni till receptet.
