drive är en av mina absoluta favoritfilmer, jag tycker att den är helt genialisk.
drive is one of my favourite movies, i find it ingenious.
filmen handlar om driver, som är ryan goslings namnlösa karaktär. det är en man som vi egentligen inte vet så mycket om och som är ganska tystlåten. driver arbetar som bilmekaniker och stuntförare men frilansar som getaway driver på natten. han försöker lägga sitt förflutna bakom sig när han träffar carey mulligans karaktär irene och hennes son.
the movie is about ryan goslings nameless character driver. we do not know much about him and he is a silent man, he does not talk much. driver works as a garage mechanic, a hollywood stunt driver and freelances as a getaway driver at night-time. he is trying to put his, presumably, shady past behind him when he meets carey mulligans irene and her son.
irenes man skall snart släppas från fängelset men när han äntligen är frigiven börjar problemen på riktigt. han har nämligen en stor skuld att betala. driver, som gillar irene och hennes son, erbjuder honom sin hjälp. det går inte riktigt som de hade tänkt sig.
irenes husband is soon to be released from prison, but when he is finally a free man again, everything is not fine. he has a huge debt to pay and driver, who likes irene and her son, is offering his help to protect them. it does not work out as they planned.

carey mulligan har en liten roll som inte är så utvecklad, men hon är ändå bra. som alltid.

det tog verkligen ett tag innan jag fattade ryan gosling. i blue valentine var han såklart bra, men filmen var så otroligt deprimerande att handlingen tog över. han var verkligen bra i the ides of march, men samtidigt är det många som hade gjort just den rollen bra. men, i drive är han så otroligt bra! kan inte fatta hur bra han är i den här filmen alls. så duktig.
it really took a while for me to get ryan gosling. he was, of course, really good in blue valentine, but the movie was so depressing that the plot somehow took over. he was really awsome in the ides of march, but still. i know many actors who would have made his part probably at least as good as he did. but, in drive, he is magnificent! i can't wrap my head around his performance. it was flawless.
ljudbilden var helt fantastisk, soundtracket var kanonbra. speciellt i öppningsscenerna av filmen när driver försöker undkomma polisen till tonerna av tick of the clock av chromatics. även kavinskys nightcall är väldigt bra. låtarna är väldigt inspirerade av 80-talet, vilket också går igen i den rosa drive-loggan. hela filmen är en modern tolkning på filmer från 60-, 70- och 80-talen. jämför drive med valfri clint eastwood western. en man utan förflutet kommer till ett nytt ställe, byt ut hästar mot bilar. ni fattar. något som jag tycker är lite tråkigt är att hollywood inte alls verkar förstå winding refn. precis som postern för valhalla rising är trailern för drive helt missvisande. vill man se adrenalinpumpande action och galna biljakter genom l.a. är inte det här något för dig, det här är absolut inte ännu en fast & furious-film. det här är så himla mycket bättre.
the soundimage was amazing, the soundtrack outstanding. especially the opening scenes when driver is trying to escape the cop to the tunes of tick of the clock by chromatics. and kavinskys nightcall is also very good. the songs are inspired by the 80´s, and so are the drive-logo. well, i would say that the entire movie is an interpretation of the movies made in the 60´s, 70´s and 80´s. for example, compare drive to any clint eastwood western. a man of very few words and no past comes into town, replace the horses with some nice cars and well, you get it. something that i find a little bit sad is that hollywood does not seem to get winding refn. just take a look at the valhalla rising-poster or the drive-trailer. totally misleading. this is not another fast & furious-movie. this is so much better.
övriga karaktärer i filmen är också väldigt bra, rollerna är väldigt välskrivna. de ger en bra kontrast till den tystlåtna driver. cinematografin är så väldigt bra. tempot i filmen är hypnotiskt. jag tycker att det här är den bästa filmen sen bullit i sin genre, trots att death proof egentligen är en enda lång biljakt kommer den inte alls upp i den här standarden. förra årets bästa film, enligt mig.
the bad boys and gangsters makes a nice contrast to our quiet hero driver, all the parts are very well written. the cinematography is great. the pace is hypnotic. i think this is the best movie since bullit in this genre. even if death proof is actually only one really long chase, it is not as good as drive. i think this is the best movie of 2011.
filmen är blodig. jag var så otroligt uppslukad av filmen och måste erkänna att jag inte reagerade på det nämnvärt men såhär i efterhand kan jag förstå om man tycker att den är brutal. dock måste jag säga att jag inte tycker att den är meningslös, blodet porträtterar den värld driver lever i.
the movie is kind of bloody. i was so absorbed by the movie so i honestly did not give it much of a thought while watching but in retrospect, i can see why some people say it is too bloody and too brutal. i have to say, i do not find the blood meaningless. it portraits the world driver lives in.

igår kväll såg jag filmen the ides of march, en film som handlar om politiskt maktspel, svek och hur dessa påverkar och förändrar människor.
last night i watched the movie the ides of march, which deal with issues like political powerplay, betrayal and how it affects and changes people.
george clooney har regisserat och varit med och skrivit manus samt innehar en av huvudrollerna som guvernören mike morris. så på många sätt och vis är det clooneys film.
george clooney has directed, co-writed the manuscript and also stars as one of the main characters, gouvenour mike morris. so, in many ways, this is clooneys movie.
fast det är egentligen inte mike morris som filmen handlar om, utan om ryan goslings stephen meyers. stephen är en ung idealist och väldigt bra på kommunikation. han arbetar som andra man med morris presidentkampanj. under filmens gång dras han in i ett smutsigt politiskt maktspel och vi får se hur det påverkar och förändrar honom.
but this movie is really not about mike morris but the character of ryan gosling, stephen meyers. stephen is a young idealist who is very good at communications. he is second in command of mike morris presidental campaign. during the course of the movie, we will see how he is pulled in to a dirty political powerplay and how it affects and changes him.

jag tycker att filmen har helt okej, inte den bästa som jag någonsin sett men inte den sämsta heller. skådespelarna är duktiga men karaktärerna inte speciellt välutvecklade. filmen var kanske lite kort, bara 1.5 h. jag skulle heller inte kalla genren politisk thriller, snarare ett politiskt (melo)drama. den handlar inte maktgalna politiker utan mer om valet mellan att göra det man tror är rätt och det som gynnar en själv i längden. det är svårt att veta vilka som är goda och onda, om det ens existerade sådana. en bra, välgjord och annorlunda film om amerikansk politik.
i kind of liked this movie, it is absolutely not the best i have ever seen but certainly not the worst. the actors were great but perhaps the characters were not fully developed and the movie was a bit short, only about 1.5 h running time. and i would not call this a political thriller, perhaps i would call it a political drama, or political melodrama. it do not deals with shady politicans but the choice between doing the right thing and doing what is best for your self in the long run. it was also hard to know which guys were good and which were bad, perhaps they were all good and bad at the same time. a good, well made and different film about american politics.

här har vi nurse ratched, hon är verkligen en superskurk och otroligt obehaglig. filmen handlar ju också om att man genom maktpositioner kan utnyttja andras svagheter och hur samhället kan hantera mentalt sjuka människor. i denna film saknar de i princip alla mänskliga rättigheter.
this is nurse ratched, and she is one of the most evil villains ever in the history of film. the movie is also about how people in position of power can use other peoples weaknesses and how the society handle mentally ill patients. in this movie, the lunatics lack almost every aspects of human rights.

det senaste året har jag varit på jakt efter bra filmtidningar. svenska cinema känndes lite tunn och har dessutom lagt ned. total film och empire kändes lite mycket amerikansk blockbuster och använder sig lite av samma intervjuteknik som beskrivs i boken the perks of being a wallflower. när jag läser ett reportage om t.ex. the girl with the dragon tattoo vill jag veta mer om filmen och bakom inspelningen, inte vad david fincher äter och vad rooney mara inte äter (tydligen ingenting, även om fincher påpekar att hon får).
the past year i set myself on a mission to find the best movie magazine there is. i tried, among others, both total film and empire but i did not like them. too much american blockbuster and i thought the reporters used the same technique as described in the novel perks of being a wallflower. when i buy a movie magazine and read the articles, i want to know more about the movie and about the production, not what stars and directors eat (or not eat).

jane eyre.
för några veckor sedan såg jag filmen jane eyre, regisserad av cary fukunaga. känns som om den blev lite bortglömd vilket är synd, för det är en riktigt bra filmatisering och efteråt kände jag bara att jag vill se mer. vilket känns som ett bra betyg eftersom jag normalt inte tycker om den här typen av kostymdramer. är det bara jag som tycker att keira knightley förstörde den här genren med de filmer hon gjorde för några år sedan, pride & prejudice och atonement? och när vi ändå snackar, kan hon inte snälla sluta med den där grejen hon gör med underkäken, varför skjuter hon alltid fram den samtidigt som hon visar tänderna...?
a few weeks ago i saw the movie jane eyre, directed by cary fukunaga. somehow, it seemed the movie became a bit forgotten or hidden from the audiences, at least here in sweden. which is a shame, because it is a really good adaption for the screen and while the credits started the only thing i could think that i wanted more. it is actually a good thing coming from me, because i usually dont like this kind of custume drama. i believe i blame it all on keira knightley and the horrible movies she made a few years back, pride & prejudice and atonement. i dont really see what the fuss about her is all about. is she really a good actress, really?
hur som helst, filmen handlar om jane eyre, som efter en jobbigt barndom får jobb som guvernant på thornfield hall. herrgårdens ägare är mr rochester som till en början är väldigt osympatisk. de blir vänner och jane faller för honom. och då, när hon för första gången faktiskt är lycklig, förändras allt genom att mr rochesters mörka hemlighet avslöjas.
the plot is about jane eyre, who had a bleak childhood, but managed to got a job as a guverness at thornfield hall. the master of the house is mr. rochester. at the beginning he is quite unpleasant, but he and jane grow closer but when jane is finally happy, mr. rochesters dark secret reveals and changes everything.
jag tycker att produktionsdesignen och kostymen var riktigt bra.

även ljussättningen var väldigt bra. på grund av att de använde sig av mycket naturlig ljussättning kändes det som om thornfield hall blev en egen karaktär. mycket bra. även cinematografin var utmärkt.
i also really did like the lighting. they used a lot of natural light which was great, because it made thornfield hall a character of its own. i like that, very good. and, the cinematography was gorgeous.
och musiken var helt fantastisk. ni måste lyssna på a game of badminton och waiting for mr. rochester, finns på spotify.

men absolut bäst var michael fassbender som rochester. min nya favoritskådespelare kanske, fast leonardo är ju alltid leonardo men ändå, man kan ju ha flera.
but best of all things was michael fassbender as rochester. perhaps he is my new favourite actor, just behind the impeccable leonardo.
